Front-runner surfaces in Bronny James recruitment
Bronny James Jayne Kamin-Oncea-USA TODAY Sports

Bronny James is a five-star high school basketball prospect, one of the most highly-touted young players in the nation and (if you hadn't heard) also the eldest son of LeBron James.

Thus far nine prominent universities — Memphis, Ohio State, USC, Duke, Kansas, Kentucky, Michigan, North Carolina and Oregon — have reportedly extended offers to James.

One of that lot may be separating itself at this juncture.

According to On3’s college basketball recruitment predictor, Ohio State has a 95.5 percent chance of landing Prince James.

This seems to back up what Bryce James accidentally hinted at regarding  his big brother’s preferred college choice in a now-deleted Instagram Story.

Sitting at 13-18, the Buckeyes have seen better days as a college basketball institution. Bronny could be the solution to those doldrums. Between his quickly-improving skill levels on the court and impressive mental tenacity off it, he has the upside to develop into a program face.

Much has been made about Bronny’s actual basketball skill. Between his best-case scenario NBA player comparison, what his critics say about him and the fact that he is significantly smaller than his 15-year-old brother, he does not have a perfectly smooth profile.

But what can’t be argued with is how tough Bronny is from a mental perspective. It doesn’t matter if the media is digging into his love life. It doesn’t matter which Kardashian sisters come to his games. The kid never gets rattled. Never. And he has grown up in the face of his father's massive global celebrity.

Some time in the near future, Bronny is going to make a call on his collegiate future. It could change the fortunes of that program.
