The Gonzaga Bulldogs face their first test on the road in West Coast Conference play Thursday when they travel to face Santa Clara.
The Zags (11-4, 2-0 WCC) won their first two league games handedly last week, as they defeated Pepperdine and San Diego by a combined 53 points. Graham Ike led the way with 20 points while Anton Watson added 15 in the 86-60 victory over the Waves in the Spokane Arena. Two nights later, Ben Gregg dropped a career-high 22 points and four steals to lead the way in a 101-74 thumping of the Toreros at the McCarthey Athletic Center.
Ike paces the team with 15.2 points and 8.0 rebounds per game. Gonzaga sits atop the WCC in scoring (84.9 points per game) and rebounding (42.5 boards per game).
The Broncos (11-6, 2-0 WCC) started league play strong behind the efforts of NBA prospect Adama-Alpha Bal. The Arizona transfer guard scored 21 and 28 points in victories over Loyola Marymount and Pepperdine, respectively. Bal leads Santa Clara with 15.9 points per game.
Gonzaga has won 22 of the last 23 games at Santa Clara and 25-straight head-to-head meetings overall. With a win, Mark Few would be the second-fastest head coach to record 700 career victories behind Kentucky's Adolph Rupp.
