Creighton men's basketball coach Greg McDermott has been suspended from all team activities after making racially insensitive comments to his players last week, the university announced Thursday.
The decision came two days after the school said any disciplinary action would not be made public.

McDermott apologized earlier this week for referencing a "plantation" to his players after a 77-69 loss to Xavier on Feb. 27.
The 56-year-old offered to resign over his comments before a 72-60 loss to Villanova on Wednesday. However, the players did not ask for him to leave. Following the announcement of McDermott's suspension, he took to Twitter to say he agrees with the decision.
I made a mistake and I own it. Mistakes come with consequences, and I accept and agree with the suspension. https://t.co/pYOT0X0nMx
