The Dallas Mavericks won the 2025 NBA draft lottery, putting themselves in the pole position to land the player widely regarded as the nation's best, former Duke Blue Devils forward Cooper Flagg.

Flagg, who led the Devils to the NCAA Tournament's Final Four, where they lost to Houston, is a tall, well built forward with a multi-dimensional game who is capable of racking up points, steals, rebounds and assists in a hurry.

Flagg participated in the 2025 NBA draft combine with interesting results, participating in running drills, shooting drills, and more while also being measured for the purpose of informing NBA teams on his true size and skills.

Flagg did not wow with his athleticism in certain portions of the measurements and drills in comparison with other NBA hopefuls at the forward position.

He ranked second among forwards in the lane agility portion of drills with a time of 10.64 seconds, just behind Alabama's Grant Nelson with a time of 10.51 seconds.

Flagg did not record a top five finish in the standing reach, height without shoes, wingspan, standing vertical leap, max vertical leap, shuttle run, or three-quarter court sprint portions of the combine.

He weighed in at 221 pounds and finished with a 35.5-inch vertical leap, placing him in the middle of the pack among all vertical leap participants.

He shot 21-for-30 on off-dribble shots and 16-for-25 on spot-up shots, again placing him toward the middle of the pack.

Flagg's combine performance was not the front page material many fans were expecting from the number one overall NBA draft prospect.

Flagg nevertheless remains the top prospect in the draft because of his on-court production.

Whichever team ends up taking Flagg might not receive an athletic marvel like LeBron James was coming out of high school, but the production and abilities he showed in Durham, North Carolina with coach Jon Scheyer's team speak for themselves.
