Insane Stat Shows How Dominant UConn Huskies Have Been in 2024 NCAA Tournament
Brian Fluharty-USA TODAY Sports

After handling their business against the Illinois Fighting Illini in the Elite Eight, the UConn Huskies have booked their ticket to the Final Four of the NCAA Tournament. Turns out, the team has been more dominant than anyone expected, all thanks to one insane statistic.

Among all the teams who made it to the NCAA Tournament, the Huskies were among the few teams that dominated the regular season like it wasn’t much trouble at all. Throughout the said period, and including the tournament proper itself, UConn has only lost a total of three games. These losses were inflicted by Creighton, Seton Hall, and Kansas.

Leading the pack is Tristen Newton, a 6’5″ point guard who runs the team’s offense and has provided the most buckets per game. UConn big man Donovan Clingan plays the center position and has provided the Huskies with a reliable interior presence on both ends of the court. Rookie Stephen Castle, meanwhile, has delivered an instant infusion of offense for an already well-oiled machine this season.

With Dan Hurley coaching the team, UConn has managed to bulldoze through the competition throughout the regular season and the tournament itself. And with two more game before they win the big one, a lot of eyes will certainly be on the team, especially when they face the Alabama Crimson Tide soon.

Insane Stat Proves UConn Huskies’ Dominance Throughout 2024 NCAA Tournament

But before their scheduled Final Four match against Alabama happens, there’s one statistic that has proved how dominant UConn has been all season long. According to a tweet shared by The Sporting News on X:

“UConn has only trailed for 28 total seconds in four NCAA Tournament games this year,” The Sporting News tweeted.

Throughout the 36 games this season, it’s mind-blowing to imagine how UConn has only given up the lead for that short period of time. This means that the Huskies have established a system that has kept them in the driver’s seat for almost all of their games.

The Huskies’ dominance will definitely be tested against Alabama in the Final Four. If they succeed and win the championship, this run will go down as one of the best in UConn’s history in the NCAA.
