Insider says North Florida transfer guard Chaz Lanier's recruitment will move 'quickly'
Jeffrey Becker-USA TODAY Sports

The Tennessee Vols' top remaining transfer portal target is North Florida guard Chaz Lanier.

Lanier, 6-foot-4 from Nashville, took part in the G League Elite Camp this past weekend, but he wasn't one of the players selected to take part in the NBA draft combine, which means he'll almost certainly return to college for the 2024-25 season.

And that means that he should be making a transfer decision soon.

247Sports' Travis Branham reported on Tuesday that Lanier's recruitment is expected to move "rather quickly" now that the G League Elite Camp is in the rear view mirror.

Tennessee and Kentucky are viewed as the top two favorites for Lanier, who averaged 19.7 points per game last season.

"The Volunteers remain the likely pick, but with the Wildcats making a strong move we aren't calling this race until after Lanier checks out Knoxville and Lexington," noted Branham.

Tennessee's had a great offseason when it comes to the transfer portal, already landing center Felix Okpara (Ohio State), Igor Milicic (Charlotte), and Darlinstone Dubar (Hofstra). The Vols also lost forward Tobe Awaka (Arizona) and center Jonas Aidoo (Arkansas) to the transfer portal.

Landing Lanier would seemingly put a bow on Tennessee's transfer portal efforts this offseason.
