Iowa's Caitlin Clark provides NBC with record audience for women's basketball game

The University of Iowa has itself an absolute superstar of a women's basketball player in senior guard Caitlin Clark.

The numbers have always backed that fact up. Last season as a junior, she averaged 27.8 points per game, 7.1 rebounds and 8.6 assists per contest. Through 20 games as a senior, she's averaging 31.7 points, seven rebounds, and 7.7 assists.

She was great last year, but as a senior, she's been even better.

Clark has drawn crowds wherever she plays, and it turns out those eyeballs translate to television as well.

Per a release from NBC (h/t Awful Announcing), No. 2 Iowa's 100-92 upset loss to No. 18 Ohio State this past Sunday drew record numbers.

The game, which NBC specifically pointed out featured Clark, averaged 1.93 million viewers. It goes down as the most-watched regular season women's college basketball game not just on NBC, but on any network, since 2010.

Clark led all scorers with 45 points but OSU forward Cotie McMahon deserves a shout-out as well. She scored 33 and added 12 rebounds.

OSU's win over Clark's Iowa squad improved the Buckeyes' rankings from No. 18 to No. 12 in the nation. Because of the loss, Iowa fell to No. 5.
