Jackson Brockett throws a no-hitter plus more Nebraska Cornhuskers news

What makes the no-no by Brockett even more impressive is that it was his first start this season. The junior had 12 career starts coming into the game for the Nebraska Cornhuskers, but it was only the second time he pitched more than two innings this season for the 28-15 Nebraska baseball team.

The Nebraska Cornhuskers are now 28-15 overall. They are one game back in the Big Ten with nine games left and will play a three-game series at Minnesota this weekend. Kansas State had an RPI of 31 and this will be one of the Huskers’ best non-conference wins if they need an at-large berth to make the NCAA baseball tournament.

Whether it was five-star athlete Michael Terry or top-100 wideout Cortez Mills, Nebraska football made some headway on the recruiting trail this past weekend.

However, one player they took another step forward with was four-star quarterback TJ Lateef. Lateef is ranked No. 238 overall according to the 247 Sports composite rankings and the 6-foot-1, 185-pound quarterback out of Orange, California is ranked 17th at his position.

Wiltfong said he was close to putting a fong bomb for the Nebraska football team to land Lateef and also wrote in the Wiltfong Whiparound that “he likes the way it continues to trend with the Huskers and Lateef.”

Nebraska football also made the top four for a 2025 defensive lineman on Wednesday as the positive momentum continues to build in the 2025 class.

Some fans weren’t a big fan of the Braxton Meah addition (not sure why) but according to On3.com, Meah was another four-star transfer addition for the Huskers. He was an All-Pac 12 defender in 2022-23 and led Washington in blocked shots the past two seasons.

Nebraska needed a rim protector. Meah can do that. He’s also really good around the rim and on the offensive glass. It was a good move all around, even though it feels like a meat-and-potatoes pickup.

Fred Hoiberg’s entire class feels like that. But the Huskers are ranked seventh in the On3.com transfer portal rankings, so remember to trust the process and most especially to trust Fred.
