Cooper Flagg has left his mark in Durham.

On Wednesday, Duke head coach Jon Scheyer gave a heartfelt breakdown of his experience coaching Cooper Flagg during a recent appearance on "The Brotherhood Podcast," hosted by Justin Robinson.

"Cooper was, incredible this year. And and you know it's the fact that he showed up every day, was an incredible teammate, always came with great energy, and then I think what he did on the court speaks for itself."

That type of praise doesn’t come lightly from a coach who’s worked with some of the nation’s best. But Flagg wasn’t your average freshman.

The former No. 1 overall recruit out of Montverde Academy entered the 2024–25 season with intense national attention—and still managed to outperform the hype.

Flagg led the Blue Devils in nearly every major statistical category, including points (18.7), rebounds (7.5), assists (4.2), steals (1.4), and blocks (1.3).

His all-around impact helped anchor a Duke team that battled through one of the toughest schedules in the nation en route to a Final Four appearance.

From day one, it was clear Flagg brought something special.

His motor, maturity, and competitive edge set the tone in practices and translated to consistent excellence in games.

Scheyer made it clear this wasn’t just about talent. It was the daily habits, leadership, and humility that made Flagg a coach’s dream.

"Cooper, it was great big guy. Love coaching you, man."

And now that his Duke career is officially in the books, Scheyer took a moment to give Flagg his flowers—recognizing not just the stat sheet, but the teammate and young man behind it.

Few players arrive with that much hype. Even fewer deliver. Flagg did both.
