On September 18th, 247Sports published their “way-too-early” 2024 team recruiting rankings. With Kentucky having just one commit at the time, Somto Cyril, they were ranked all the way down at 50th.

Since then, Kentucky has received two more commitments from guards Boogie Fland and Travis Perry, which raised that ranking from 50th up to 6th. According to recruiting analysts, two more commitments may be on the horizon as well.

Over the last 24 hours, the Wildcats have received a number of crystal ball predictions for a pair of five-star recruits, Jayden Quaintance and Billy Richmond. Some of those analysts include Travis Branham and our friend Trilly Donovan.

Interestingly, just two weeks ago it was believed that both players would delay their decision to the spring, while that may be the case for Richmond, Quantiance will make his decision on Tuesday afternoon. Its clear the Kentucky staff has been making some big recruiting efforts.

If John Calipari and Co can secure the duo of commitments, that will push Kentucky to the No. 2 spot as the early signing period closes. This puts them in a great position for the spring, with one more addition (i.e. Karter Knox, VJ Edgecombe, or Darryn Peterson reclass) they will likely overtake Duke for the top spot.

Time will tell how this shakes out, but Kentucky has reason for optimism.
