Last week. Kentucky basketball got some good recruiting news as they received a commitment from 2024 five-star guard Boogie Fland, but they also made the cut for another top player. Karter Knox, the 11th-ranked recruit in the class and the younger brother of former Wildcat Kevin Knox, released his final four, which included Kentucky, Louisville, G-League, and South Florida.

Looking at the choices, Knox has close ties to all the schools involved. The Knox family has long-time relationships with John Calipari and Kenny Payne. Living in Florida, the family is close to the South Florida program. As of late, the G-League is making a serious run in the recruitment.

In terms of Kentucky, it was expressed by the Knox family that they wished to hear more from Kentucky staff. While it has improved, he has yet to commit. When talking about Kentucky with Joe Tipton of On3 last month, Knox said:

“They really just want me. They think they can make me a one-and-done, and go to the pros. think they can really develop my game and they think I fit in their style of play. Cal really loves me and the coaching staff really loves me. When I went there (to Lexington), it was really like a basketball city. Kentucky, that’s really all they got. The fans are crazy for Kentucky and the stadium will be packed damn near every game.”

Knox currently plays for Team RWE in Overtime Elite, alongside current Kentucky big-man commit Somto Cyril. Through five preseason games, Knox is averaging 18 points and 5 rebounds on 48.7 percent shooting. At 18 points per game, Knox leads OTE and is showing what he does best, score.

Knox plans to not rush with his decision-making, previously setting an expectation for a decision in the Spring.
