Kentucky Wildcats Host Intriguing Transfer Portal Guard
William Purnell-USA TODAY Sports

Kentucky Wildcats’ freshly appointed head coach, Mark Pope, has progressed beyond merely reaching out to players; he’s now actively hosting transfer prospects on campus for visits.

One notable visitor to Lexington recently was Otega Oweh, formerly of the Oklahoma Sooners.

During his stint with the Sooners, Oweh showcased his skills, averaging 11.4 points, 3.8 rebounds, and dishing out one assist per game. Despite being a sophomore, he exhibited significant improvement, notably boosting his three-point shooting percentage by 12.7% from his freshman year, culminating in an impressive 37.7% last season.

However, it’s not just his scoring prowess that makes Oweh stand out; his defensive intensity is equally commendable. Standing tall at 6’5″ and weighing 215 pounds, Oweh possesses the versatility to defend multiple positions effectively.

Considering Kentucky’s defensive struggles last season, acquiring a player of Oweh’s caliber would undoubtedly fortify their defense significantly.

Interestingly, Oweh shares familial ties with Baltimore Ravens linebacker Odafe Oweh, who had a noteworthy five sacks last season.

Rumors suggest that the Wildcats are in a favorable position to secure Oweh’s commitment. With his potential to excel as an elite “three and D” guard, coupled with his ability to drive to the rim at his imposing 6’5″ stature, Oweh could be a transformative addition to the Wildcats’ roster.

Following his positive visit experience, the Kentucky Wildcats’ faithful eagerly await news regarding Oweh’s decision. His name is certainly one for Big Blue Nation to remember.
