In a tough break for Bill Self and the Kansas Jayhawks, senior guard Shakeel Moore is out for Monday night’s matchup vs. Houston.
Moore suffered a foot injury vs. BYU in the middle of February and has not seen the court in Kansas’ last three outings.
In 2024-25, Moore has been a decent portal addition for the Jayhawks, seeing time both in the starting lineup and coming off the bench. In 19 games played, Moore is averaging 3.8 points, 1.7 rebounds, and 1.4 assists per game in 14.4 minutes.
In Moore’s absence, Kansas has found some production from Alabama transfer Rylan Griffen, who has since stepped into the starting lineup. He’s averaging 31 minutes per game over the last three games, with 10 points, four assists, and 2.3 rebounds per contest.
In the last outing vs. Houston, Kansas went viral for a horrendous finish to the game. The Jayhawks led by six points with less than thirty seconds remaining and blew the lead to force overtime vs. Houston. The Cougars then took care of business in double overtime, handing Bill Self one of the most embarrassing losses of his career.
The Jayhawks enter the game against Houston after losing 78-73 against No. 10 Texas Tech. Monday’s game tips off at 8:00 p.m. central in Houston, Texas, with the Cougars favored by 9.5.
