Longhorns' Timmy Allen OUT vs. Oklahoma State at Big 12 Tournament

The Texas Longhorns will be without one of their main pieces for Thursday's matchup against the Oklahoma State Cowboys at the Big 12 Tournament in Kansas City, as forward Timmy Allen has been ruled out and is listed as day-to-day with a lower right leg injury, per the program.

Allen is averaging 10.5 points, 5.5 rebounds and 3.5 assists this season. He's started every game for Texas this season, but will now give way to newly-crowned Big 12 Sixth Man of the Year, Sir'Jabari Rice, to make his first start as a Longhorn.

Despite Allen's consistent role, he's taken a backseat as a scorer this season compared to when he arrived to Austin as a transfer for the 2021-22 campaign. He's failed to reach the double-digit scoring mark in four of his last six games, as forward Dylan Disu has picked up the scoring slack in the frontcourt recently with some impressive performances.

The Longhorns have been relatively healthy all season long, with Tyrese Hunter's consistent cramps and Disu's brief in-game exits due to knee issues being the only notable ailments.

But Texas will now look to win the Big 12 Tournament without one of its best players, as it remains to be seen if Allen could return should the Longhorns advance.
