LSU superstar ties Division I record in Final Four win over Virginia Tech

No. 3 LSU punched its Final Four ticket to the National Championship game thanks to an epic second-half comeback and yet another standout performance from forward Angel Reese.

Reese finished with 24 points, 12 rebounds and three steals in the Tigers' 79-72 win over No. 1 Virginia Tech, tying the Division I record for double-doubles in a season with 33.

The sophomore stepped up for the Tigers when it mattered most, too. After trailing by as many as 12 points in the second half, LSU found itself trailing by a 59-50 score heading into the fourth quarter. In need of a quick turnaround, Reese and guard Alexis Morris led the charge.

The duo combined for 18 points in the final stanza, helping LSU outscore the Hokies 29-13. While Morris didn't post a double-double like Reese, she did finish with a game-high 27 points on 11-of-27 shooting from the field, including 2-of-9 from beyond the arc.

For Reese, performances like Friday'ss are becoming commonplace. Ahead of Sunday's championship tilt, Reese has been accomplishing feats and compiling statistics like no other college player has in the NCAA Tournament.

According to ESPN, Reese is the first player to surpass 100 points, 70 rebounds, 10 blocks and 10 steals during a single tournament run. Specifically, she has registered 113 points, 81 rebounds, 14 blocks, and 13 steals through five games.

Now, Reese and LSU will embark on the program's first title game journey, hoping to cap their historic ride with a storybook ending.
