Markquis Nowell sets NCAA tournament record to help send Kansas State to Elite Eight

Kansas State is on its way to the Elite Eight of the NCAA Men's Tournament after winning a classic 98-93 overtime game against Michigan State on Thursday.

It has a record-setting performance from Markquis Nowell to thank for it.

Nowell set an NCAA Men's Tournament record by dishing out 19 assists in the win, while also dropping 20 points on the Spartans. It was an incredible performance from Nowell, the smallest player on the floor all night, as he made highlight-reel play after highlight-reel play, while also shaking off an injury in the second half that briefly sent him to the bench.

Out of all of Nowell's 19 assists, this play late in overtime was his most jaw-dropping of the night as he casually set up an alley-oop from the logo with under a minute to play to give the Wildcats the lead.

That assist also tied the NCAA Tournament record.

It is going to be difficult for any game in this tournament to top the drama this one had, as the lead changed hands all night.

In the end Michigan State simply did not have an answer for Nowell, and he has Kanas State into the Elite Eight where it will await the winner of the Florida Atlantic-Tennessee game.
