It feels like Michigan basketball is in a waiting period. After a flurry of moves last weekend, the Wolverines are still awaiting the most significant commitment, which would come from Vlad Goldin.

The former FAU center is the missing piece for Dusty May’s first Michigan basketball roster. That would give the Wolverines a proven interior scorer and one of the best players available in the transfer portal. Heck, he might be the best center in the Big Ten next season.

Michigan basketball still waiting for Vlad Goldin

It feels like this team has been built around Goldin. May has signed a bunch of talented guards, as well as some forwards/wings who can all shoot the ball. May found a point guard in Tre Donaldson and a guy in Roddy Gayle who has All-Big Ten potential.

Gayle might not be Johnell Davis, but he’s probably the next best thing. Andrej Stojakovic would have been a great option on the wing, but the former five-star recruit released a top three on Thursday and Michigan basketball wasn’t in it.

So the wait continues for Vlad Goldin. Davis Moseley of 247 Sports posted something that could be viewed as good news on Goldin, but who knows? The Michigan/college basketball insiders have said he’s coming for a couple of weeks now and there still hasn’t been a commitment.

I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t a little worried. More than one insider has hinted that a pledge could come this week and Friday seems like as good a day as any.
