More predictions are starting to come in for former FAU big man Vlad Goldin to announce his commitment to the Michigan basketball team.

There have been multiple crystal ball projections and on Tuesday, Joe Tipton put in an expert projection for On3.com, which is usually a pretty good sign. Davis Moseley of 247 Sports also posted a positive update on Goldin.

Moseley said there were rumblings that Goldin would follow Michigan basketball head coach Dusty May wherever he went. May originally landed Goldin from the transfer portal — one of his rare forays into the portal at FAU. It worked out then and would be a huge pickup for the Wolverines.

While he didn’t know when a commitment would come, Moseley reported that it should be coming soon. It’s safe to say that Michigan basketball is on commitment watch.

A positive with former FAU guard Johnell Davis

Getting an All-Conference caliber center like Vlad Goldin would be a good start toward rebuilding the roster for next season. Johnell Davis is another piece that would upgrade Michigan basketball immediately.

Davis averaged 18 points per game last season. He’s a shooter and playmaker and would easily be one of the best combo guards in the Big Ten next season. Goldin would be one of the best bigs. That’s a good place to start.

Davis declared for the NBA draft, which could be a real threat. Moseley reports Houston was a team to watch too, but with some of their guards returning, that should help Michigan basketball.

It’s one less destination for Davis. Louisville has also been mentioned but it feels like if Davis plays college basketball in 2024-25, it will be for Michigan.
