Michigan State basketball freshman point guard Jeremy Fears roasted a Michigan fan who tried to troll him on Instagram.

Jeremy Fears is going to fit in just fine in East Lansing with Michigan State basketball.

While Michigan State fans are navigating through a lot of unknown factors with the football program, one thing that remains known is that the rivalry with Michigan remains alive and well.

Spartan fans are excited about this upcoming basketball season. With one of the best rosters in the country, Michigan State has high expectations. With high expectations comes pressure and criticism. Jeremy Fears is no stranger to either one. Players from both schools continue to have to deal with internet trolls trying to get under their skin. The trash talk is a part of what makes the rivalry so great.

What makes this even better is when the players themselves embrace and engage in the banter. Fears wasn’t shy about responding to a Michigan fan trying to troll him on his personal Instagram page.

The Michigan fan has since deleted his comment.

Michigan failed to make the NCAA tournament last year. They are also navigating through a lot of changes to their roster, including losing Hunter Dickinson through the transfer portal to Kansas. There’s a stark contrast between expectations for the Spartans and the Wolverines.

With Fears not hesitating to shut down opposing fans, Michigan State fans will gravitate toward his mentality. The rivalry is real. Players embracing it makes it even better.

Fears is one of the top-ranked recruits in the 2023 class and joins a loaded Spartans roster. It will be interesting to see what kind of minutes he can carve out this year behind the three-headed monster of Michigan State guards, AJ Hoggard, Tyson Walker, and Jaden Akins.

If you want to join the conversation and see any other fan engagement in the future, you can follow Fears’ Instagram page.
