The Penn State basketball team has been active in the transfer portal this offseason. Not only have they been in contact with several potential prospects but they also have landed a talented prospect. On Saturday ex-Xavier Center Kachi Nzeh announced that he made his commitment to Mike Rhoades and the Nittany Lions. Now, Penn State has made his addition official but what did Coach Rhoades have to say about the latest addition?

Mike Rhoades, Penn State welcomes transfer portal addition

Kachi Nzeh just finished his freshman season at Xavier where he saw increased minutes down the stretch of the season. The 6-8 center and Upper Darby, PA native has loads of potential. He appeared in 19 games last season and the Nittany Lions will need him to bring his energy around the rim next season.

Penn State basketball has made his addition official and Mike Rhoades recently addressed Nzeh’s addition.

“We’re thrilled to add Kachi [Nzeh] to our Penn State basketball family. He is a great fit for what we want to do on both ends of the court and his versatility and physicality will make him a great addition to our team. We’re excited to bring Kachi back home to his home state of Pennsylvania and can’t wait to get to work.”

Can Penn State reconnect with Carey Booth?

While Mike Rhoades and Nittany Lions can continue to build their roster through the transfer portal. One player that would be a massive addition is former Notre Dame player and ex-Nittany Lion commit Carey Booth.

Booth was committed to Penn State from August 2022 until March 2023. Then, he followed Micah Shrewsberry to Notre Dame where he spent last season. The son of Penn State basketball legend Calvin Booth averaged 6.4 points per game during his freshman season. If Mike Rhoades can sell the vision in Happy Valley, perhaps he can reconnect Booth with his old roots.
