NBA Draft Roundup: Trey Alexander, Sooners Duo Shine in Thursday Slate
USA TODAY Sports

Thursday's college basketball slate featured a variety of games, with 2024 NBA Draft hopefuls littering play.

Here were some of the top performances from potential future NBA draftees:

Trey Alexander Continues Hot Start with Creighton

Assuredly a future first round pick at this point in time, Alexander has shown continual improvement in his time with Creighton, this year blossoming in nearly every facet of his game.

On Thursday, he poured on a now-typical 20 points on 7-for-12 shooting, adding seven rebounds, three assists and two steals.

Most importantly, Alexander has improved in nearly every aspect the scouts wanted to see. And could even be trending towards being a lottery selection by the time it’s all said and done.

Sooners Duo Shines Again

Fresh off their best win of the season versus Isaiah Collier and the USC Trojans, the now-ranked Oklahoma Sooners took down Arkansas-Pine Bluff on Thursday behind their draft hopefuls.

Javian McCollum, a hyper-scoring guard despite being undersized, added 15 points on 4-for-8 3-point shooting, tacking on five assists, three rebounds and a steal.

Otega Oweh, a 6-foot-5 guard who moonlights as a forward, has burst onto the scene this year with solid defensive chops, premier physically and some athleticism to match. On Thursday, he added 20 points on 9-for-11 shooting, adding four rebounds, three assists, two blocks and a steal.

Dillon Mitchell Continues to Show Improvement

A highly-touted five star recruit out of the 2022 high school class, Mitchell had a lackluster first season with the Longhorns, but has shown improvement in year two averaging 11.7 points, 8.5 rebounds, 2.2 assists, 1.3 blocks and 1.0 steals per game.

On Thursday, he added a solid 11 points, 11 rebounds, four blocks and one steal.

He may not be a highly-coveted forward to this point, but he’s slowly working his way back into contention.
