NCAAB odds, pick: Seton Hall vs. UConn betting preview for Sunday, March 3

Seton Hall vs UConn is Sunday, March 3 at 12 p.m. ET on CBS. Below, we have Seton Hall vs UConn odds and a pick.

Seton Hall and UConn meet up for the second time of the year, and the Huskies are looking for revenge after losing to the Pirates by 15 points. That first matchup was back on December 20, and the Huskies went into the Prudential Center as 7.5-point favorites.

Taking a deeper look at that game, UConn had a massive dip in its shooting performance, as it shot nearly 20% below its season-long effective field goal percentage (via Vincerix).

This time around, I'm sure those numbers will even out, but there's a lot more to consider ahead of Sunday's duel.

Seton Hall Pirates

Seton Hall gave UConn its first Big East loss of the season on that December night, but a lot has changed since then.

The Pirates proved they can hang — and beat — the big boys in the Big East, especially given the fact that they also beat Marquette after the calendar changed to 2024.

Seton Hall's claim to fame is the never-ending physical defense. Shaheen Holloway recruits that side of the ball harder than most high-major programs, and it pays off for the Pirates.

The Pirates rank 46th in Adjusted Defensive Efficiency and will use their length and athleticism to their advantage in this matchup.

Betting Pick & Prediction

This is a sizable number for UConn to cover against a team that's already defeated it, but it has the path to get the job done.

Seton Hall has a strong defense, however, pounding the rock inside to Donovan Clingan should have the Huskies scoring at will.

I'm not willing to count out Seton Hall just yet, though. Three guards average over 14 points per game and the Pirates' leader — Kadary Richmond — has the rare ability to take over a game given his size, length and ability to get into the lane.

While UConn can win the outright Big East regular season title with a victory, it also has a game against Marquette on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, Seton Hall is on the bubble and will probably need one more statement to feel secure about its at-large chances. It has a massive chance here, as not many teams would have two better wins than a season sweep of the defending national champs.

I'm not calling the upset, but I expect the Pirates to keep this one respectable.

Pick: Seton Hall +15
