Joe Davis has emerged as one of the top NFL announcers for FOX. Unfortunately, he won't be in the booth for at least the next few weeks.

Davis has been calling NFL games alongside three-time Pro Bowler Greg Olsen since the start of the 2024 season. They're considered the No. 2 duo for FOX. Prior to teaming up with Olsen, the play-by-play announcer was paired up with three-time Super Bowl champion Daryl Johnston.

Last week, Davis and Olsen were in Dublin to call a thrilling Week 4 game between the Minnesota Vikings and Pittsburgh Steelers.

Olsen will be at MetLife Stadium this Sunday to cover a Week 5 showdown between the Dallas Cowboys and New York Jets. Since Davis is sidelined indefinitely, Jason Benetti will handle the play-by-play duties.

Why won't Davis cover NFL games this month?

Sports fans will still get to hear Davis in the broadcast booth this October, but he'll be covering MLB playoff games for FOX. After all, he's the network's lead play-by-play announcer for its baseball coverage.

"Prior to assuming the lead role, Davis called select regular season matchups for the network. He has been in the booth for FOX Sports’ Division Series coverage since 2017 and called a Championship Series game alongside Smoltz during the 2019 and 2020 MLB Postseasons, respectively," his bio for FOX states. "The highly revered announcer is also the television voice of the Los Angeles Dodgers."

MLB fans praised Davis for his work during the 2024 World Series, so there's no doubt he'll be up for the challenge.

That being said, it'll be tough going a month without hearing Davis call NFL games.
