Ngala, a 5‑foot‑11, 180‑pound playmaker from Montreal, had spent four seasons across U Sports, most recently averaging roughly 14.9 points, 4.6 rebounds, and 3.1 assists at Laurentian University.
He was named his conference’s male athlete of the year and earned all-star honors for that span, credentials that made him an appealing option for Bill Self and staff.
Head coach Bill Self previously signaled interest in adding an experienced guard to run the point and provide stability behind emerging backcourt options, including Darryn Peterson and Elmarko Jackson. Ngala checks that box.
Ngala’s commitment provides Kansas with international experience and a steady floor-setting presence in the guard rotation. At 26 years old, he brings maturity and leadership stripped from nearly 75 career U Sports games across five university seasons.
This marks the third offseason addition for Kansas in recent weeks, joining forwards Paul Mbiya and Kohl Rosario to strengthen the bench ahead of the upcoming season. The Jayhawks now approach the roster limit of 15 scholarship players.
Ngala enters a team expected to contend in the Big 12 and aims for an NCAA return. His role may be less glamorous than that of a blue-chip recruit, but the experience and steady veteran guard skills could pay dividends when in-season rotations tighten.
Kansas has reset its depth chart with this international commitment. Now the spotlight shifts to whether he can adapt to the pace and physicality of NCAA Division I competition. If nothing else, Ngala brings a steadying presence and adds an international storyline to Jayhawks basketball heading into next season.
