Nick Saban Reacts to Being Up For Major Award

Former Alabama head coach Nick Saban didn't take long to excel in his next career path by any means after retiring from coaching following the 2023 season.

Saban joined ESPN's beloved college football pregame show, "College GameDay," and immediately became a fan favorite for his insightful comments and candid moments. While he was extremely blunt and cold towards media members during his coaching career, which saw him win seven titles in total, Saban seemed like a new person surrounded by Kirk Herbstreit, Pat McAfee, Lee Corso and the rest of the crew.

Following his first season on the show, Saban was nominated for an Emmy for "outstanding personality/emerging on-air talent," last month. On Tuesday, he was asked for his thoughts on being nominated, and spoke highly of his experience on the show.

"It was a new experience," Saban said. "A lot of people helped contribute to learning how to do it. I certainly appreciate them and thank them for that. And we have a really good team of people who have lots of experience that I think helped me fit into the program and hopefully we created some value of some sort."It's always an honor to be nominated for anything, but there's always so many people that contribute to it."

The 46th annual Sports Emmys will take place Tuesday evening at the Jazz at Lincoln Center's Frederick P. Rose Hall in New York City. The legendary college football coach will be going up against former Villanova basketball coach Jay Wright, Ryan Fitzpatrick, Richard Sherman and Jason Kelce for the award.

If he wins, it may just prove that Saban is great at whatever he does. If he loses, maybe will see an even better version of Saban next college football season if he still has that coaching edge to him.
