After his Razorbacks were trounced 95-73 on the road at Auburn on Jan. 10, Arkansas head coach John Calipari made it clear that he had already moved on.
"I'm burning the tape," Calipari said. "Let's move on."
Based on his team's performance on Wednesday, Arkansas did move on. The No. 17 Razorbacks (13-4, 3-1 SEC) obliterated South Carolina (10-7, 1-3 SEC) in a 108-74 win inside a rocking Bud Walton Arena.
Six Hogs reached double figures. Freshmen Meleek Thomas and Darius Acuff Jr. combined for 39 points, with Acuff notching a double-double by dishing out 13 assists.
Thomas missed only one shot from the field, and the Razorbacks shot 59 percent from the floor as a team.
Defensively, Arkansas looked like a completely different squad than the one that gave up 95 points to Auburn on the Plains. On Wednesday, South Carolina was held to a 7-30 mark from beyond the arc and only had one player, sixth-year man Meechie Johnson, in double figures with 29 points.
Johnson was the only answer the Gamecocks had on Wednesday evening, and his efforts weren't nearly enough to keep South Carolina in the game.
Arkansas will travel to No. 21 Georgia (14-3, 2-2 SEC) on Saturday in what should be a solid litmus test for Calipari's squad. With two SEC road games under their belt and the latter having been figuratively burned, the Razorbacks should give the Bulldogs all they can handle in Athens.
