Summer is almost here, and top college basketball prospects are making their mark across the country at elite showcase events, drawing scouts, coaches and fans alike.

One of the standout names in the 2025 recruiting class is Darryn Peterson, a dynamic 6-foot-5 guard committed to Kansas.

Ranked just behind AJ Dybantsa in most recruiting rankings, Peterson continues to shine both on the court and online, impressing with his scoring ability, athleticism, leadership, maturity and basketball IQ that sets him apart from many of his peers.

This past weekend, he delivered another strong performance and followed it up with a social media post that had fans buzzing.

Peterson’s Instagram activity caught fire, especially among Kansas fans. Comments poured in, with supporters praising his skills and energy.

"#rockchalk❤️"

"#phenomenal," a nod to his team Phenom United Basketball.

"Man of the people "

"This goin to be the face of the league in a couple years. Facts."

"Love it!!!"

"legend!" from Adidas Basketball.

Originally from Canton, Ohio, Peterson has made several stops in his high school career, finishing his final season at Prolific Prep in Napa, California. There, he earned McDonald's All-American honors while averaging 23.1 points, 9.1 rebounds and 2.8 assists per game.

Known for his versatility and smooth scoring ability, Peterson is considered a “big guard” thanks to his 6-foot-10 wingspan. His game has been praised for its polish, and he’s regarded as one of the most complete players in the class.

Peterson narrowed his college options to Kansas, Kansas State, Ohio State and USC before committing to the Jayhawks in November 2024. Kansas head coach Bill Self didn't hold back in his praise:

“Darryn's the best player we've recruited since we've been here. He's a special talent.”

With his high-level skillset, national profile and charisma, Peterson is already generating major anticipation among Kansas fans—and college basketball as a whole.
