Ohio State men’s basketball is having a terrific day with a bunch of good news.
On the same day that it was announced that too guard Bruce Thornton would be returning for his senior season, the Buckeyes have now made a splash in the transfer portal.
Bringing in size was a must for the Buckeyes, as they are depleted inside. Ohio State has answered that by bringing one of the best 7-footers available.
According to Jonathan Givony, the Buckeyes have landed a commitment from Christoph Tilly, who is the No. 7 center in the transfer portal, per 247 Sports. Tilly gives the Buckeyes a skilled big man who can do a bit of everything.

After losing both Aaron Bradshaw and Austin Parks to the transfer portal it was key that the Buckeyes bring in a center. Tilly isn’t going to be the last addition to the frontcourt but he was very much a key one. The 225-pound center averaged 12.5 points and 4.9 rebounds in 31 starts for Santa Clara in 2024-2025.

Tilly will bring capable shooting ability, as he shot at a 31 percent clip from deep last season. Adding the big man gives the Buckeyes their second addition in the portal and he joins Indiana transfer guard Gabe Cupps. Evan Mahaffey and Meechie Johnson Jr. are the other two departures that joined Parks and Bradshaw.
After missing the NCAA Tournament for a third straight time it was let that the Buckeyes underwent a bit of a roster overhaul. They are doing just that and Tilly is a player that fans should be excited about.
