Oklahoma Senior Tanner Groves Lands Another Prestigious Award

Oklahoma senior Tanner Groves was named on Tuesday to the College Sports Communicators Academic All-America Third Team, as announced by the organization.

Groves was a first-team honoree after his first season in the Crimson and Cream and joins Alvan Adams (1974, 1975) as two-time selections. It marks the third consecutive season a Sooner was named to one of the three teams, formerly presented by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). Brady Manek was selected to the third team after the 2020-21 season.

Prior to his time with the Sooners, Groves graduated from Eastern Washington with a Bachelor of Arts degree in interdisciplinary studies. The Spokane, WA, product is pursuing a Master of Arts in organizational leadership and has a 4.00 GPA.

Groves started 32 games and averaged 10.2 points and a team-high 7.2 rebounds per outing. He recorded six double-doubles this season and led the Sooners in rebounds on 15 occasions.
