It was a good first season in the Big Ten for the Oregon Ducks after they went 25-10 overall and 12-8 in conference games, even having several key wins over No. 9 Alabama and No. 11 Wisconsin.

They wound up entering the NCAA Tournament as the No. 5 seed in the East Region, defeating No. 12 Liberty in the first round until eventually losing to No. 4 Arizona in the second round.

Unfortunately for the Ducks, though, with their season coming to a close, they're now feeling the full effects of the transfer portal, which officially opened on Monday.

Their first big departure since that opening comes in the form of sophomore small forward Mookie Cook, with Joe Tipton of On3 reporting the news on Tuesday.

After appearing in just five games his freshman year, Cook ramped up his playing time this season, appearing in 24 games, averaging 1.1 points, 0.5 rebounds, 0.1 assists, and 4.3 minutes per game.

Cook was a huge piece of Oregon's 2023 recruiting class, with On3 ranking him as a four-star prospect, the No. 9 small forward, the No. 2 player in Arizona and the No. 32 player in the nation.

Oregon was also just one of several high-level programs that were trying to land his commitment, along with teams such as Gonzaga, Kansas, Arizona, UCLA, and Kentucky.
