Overtime Elite forward signs with Kansas Jayhawks

Kansas basketball head coach Bill Self is once again bringing top talent to Lawrence. The Jayhawks are one of college basketball's true bluebloods, and as long as Self keeps bringing in top recruits, there's no reason to believe that's going to change anytime soon.

His latest signee is Samis Calderon, a 6-foot-8, 200-pound forward originally from Brazil who plays for Overtime Elite in Atlanta. He officially visited Kansas in early November, and that visit was apparently enough to push the Jayhawks over the edge.

Calderon committed and signed with Kansas over Tennesee, Michigan and Auburn.

Calderon averaged 6.3 points, 5.0 rebounds and 1.6 assists per game last season for Overtime Elite. He averaged 9.6 points, 5.6 rebounds and 1.7 assists per game in the 2023 FIBA U19 World Championships.

Self is high on Calderon's potential.

"Samis is a guy we have been very excited about the last several months. He has great size at 6-foot-8 and he can play multiple positions on the perimeter. Samis has a really nice shooting touch that can stretch the defense," Self said," according to 247Sports.

Calderon is ranked as the No. 12 small forward in the 2025 class, according to the 247Sports Composite. He's Kansas' second 2025 recruit, joining five-star shooting guard Darryn Peterson.
