'Oxford is Home': Jaemyn Brakefield Announces Ole Miss Return

Junior forward Jaemyn Brakefield is officially returning to the Ole Miss Rebels men's basketball team after entering his name into the NCAA Transfer Portal earlier in March.

Brakefield made the announcement via social media on Wednesday and Ole Miss posted a video commemorating his return.

The former 4-star recruit played a significant role for Ole Miss this season averaging 11.1 PPG, 5.7 rebounds, and 1.7 assists while shooting 53.7 percent from the field and 35.1 percent from beyond the arc.

Brakefield originally decided to give the portal a shot after Ole Miss made a coaching change and chose to bring in former Texas Longhorns coach, Chris Beard. Since being hired, Beard has had the chance to speak with Brakefield and other Rebels who entered the portal in an effort to get them to stay in Oxford.

Beard's sales pitch worked on the Brakefield, and the Jackson, Miss., native is back for more.

Here is Brakefield's social media announcement:

"Oxford is home to me. Chris Beard and I have discussed his vision for not only this next season but competing for championships in the best league in the country. Excited for this great ride ahead of us. Hotty Toddy!"

Brakefield is not the only Ole Miss veteran who believes in Beard's plan for success, as junior guard Matthew Murrell annoucned on Tuesday that he will be returning to Oxford for his fourth season of hoops.
