WHAT COACH HAS SAID HEADING INTO THIS SEASON

“Number one, he’s good,” Jeff Capel said about Dunn. “He’s a really good, older player. He has a level of physicality that we have not had in a couple years, since JB, since Jamarius, at the guard position. As good as Bub was, and Bub was really, really good, there was a level of physicality as a freshman as a young kid that you just don’t have. Dame is in his fifth year of college — maybe even his sixth year, I think he may have redshirted one year at Temple. But he’s an older guy, and he’s a big, strong physical guard. Obviously, playing for Aaron Mckie at Temple, there’s a toughness required to do that. Then, going to Houston, there’s a toughness and a level of physicality. So, he brings all of those experiences to us.”

Pitt guard Damian Dunn is in for a big year with the Panthers, and associate head coach Milan Brown is here to tell you why.

“He can score the basketball, he can handle it, he can be a really good decision maker, we’re going to need him to rebound for us. I think especially his last year of college basketball playing at Houston, I think it helped him so much defensively. Especially the level of physicality that he can play with.”

OFFSEASON NEWS

Associate head coach Milan Brown recently broke down Dunn’s impact in a video posted by Pitt’s social media team.

“His physicality at the guard position is tremendous for us,” Brown said. “He gets through screens, he can fight over top of ball screens, he rebounds the basketball on both ends. Dame’s impact on the team has already shown up just because of the wealth of knowledge that he has about the game. His physicality is going to be big for us, it’s similar to what JB gave us two years ago. Just a physical guard who can make plays inside and out.”
