The Purdue Boilermakers were the latest team to be stunned by Saint Peter’s in the NCAA Tournament, and one of the team’s star players almost suggested that some of the team had it coming.
Purdue forward Trevion Williams said after the game that coaches had urged players to treat Saint Peter’s as the best team in the country while preparing for the Sweet 16 clash. Surprisingly, Williams suggested that some of his teammates had failed to heed that instruction.
Trevion Williams:
"We talked about treating them like the best team in the country. I don't think everyone bought into that." pic.twitter.com/t0irOOYGVH

Williams is clearly hinting that some Purdue players shrugged off the coaches and took the Peacocks lightly. Maybe there is something to that, as a team like Purdue should really have been able to handle its business here.
Purdue made a lot of questionable strategic decisions during their defeat. They certainly weren’t at their best, and Williams’ comments will add to the scrutiny.
