Rebels' Matthew Murrell in Elite Scoring Company Nationally
USA TODAY Sports

As the No. 22 Ole Miss Rebels prepare to face the No. 13 Auburn Tigers on Saturday night, they have one of the top scorers in college basketball on their roster.

Guard Matthew Murrell ranks sixth nationally in points per game so far this season, according to College Basketball Reference on X, a post that was also shared by Ole Miss men's basketball. You can view the post here.

Murrell has been a key part of Ole Miss' early success so far in the 2023-24 campaign, averaging 17.4 points per game. The standout talent, however, did not take all the credit for himself following his team's win over Vanderbilt last week, instead shining the light on his fellow players.

"I'd say my teammates," Murrell said. "They're great players and give me a lot of open shots. Those are the shots I practice every day in practice. Coach calls some plays to get me in certain positions, but he has a philosophy that players make plays. My credit is to my teammates."

Ole Miss and Auburn are set to tip-off at 7:30 p.m. CT on Saturday. You can find television and betting information on the game here.
