To this point, Kentucky basketball doesn’t have any commitments in the class of 2024. Coach John Calipari is still on the hunt after missing out on Ian Jackson, who chose North Carolina over the Cats. However, recruiting expert, Travis Graf of Rivals, just gave his FutureCast prediction for Billy Richmond III to Kentucky.

Billy Richmond III is a four-star small forward in the 2024 class. Kentucky offered the rising prospect on December 30th, 2022, and then hosted him for an official visit on February 2nd, 2023.

The 6-foot-6, 210-pound wing has very strong connections to Kentucky basketball and Coach Cal. Richmond plays at Camden High School in New Jersey which has acted as a prolific pipeline for players under John Calipari.

In coach Cal’s time at Memphis, he recruited 2001 Camden grads, Arthur Barclay and Dajuan Wagner Sr. Also, current Kentucky forward, Lance Ware, was a 2020 grad from Camden.

Dajuan Wagner Jr. (DJ) and Aaron Bradshaw are two of Richmond’s high school teammates in the class of 2023. Both have signed with Kentucky and will arrive in Lexington this summer to begin preparing for next season.

Additionally, Richmond’s father, Billy Richmond II, played for John Calipari at Memphis from 2002-2004. This makes another legacy recruit for coach Cal.

According to Graf, “right now I think they’re [Kentucky] in the driver’s seat for Billy Richmond… Adding Richmond to the class could really help get the ball rolling with the rising seniors, and I think there’s a solid possibility that he could announce a commitment in the spring or early summer months.”
