Indiana is looking for a new men's basketball head coach for the 2025-26 season.
Indiana came up just short of making the 2025 NCAA Tournament, finishing the season with a 19-13 record. The program was one of the first four teams out of the annual event.
Mike Woodson's tenure with Hoosiers ended after the 2024-25 season after he announced his intention to step down in February.
"During a meeting with Coach Woodson on Wednesday, he informed me he wanted to step down as our program's head coach at the end of the current season," Indiana athletic director Scott Dolson said in February, via ESPN.
Indiana is deep in its coaching search and according to Jeff Goodman, West Virginia head coach Darian DeVries has emerged as one of the top candidates for the gig.
"West Virginia's Darian DeVries has emerged as one of - if not the top candidate for the Indiana job - source told @TheFieldOf68. I'm told by sources that nothing is done yet, but that DeVries could wind up being the guy. Drake's Ben McCollum and a third "mystery" candidate still in the mix as well, per source," Goodman tweeted.
DeVries just finished his first season as West Virginia's head coach and came up just short of an NCAA Tournament berth. West Virginia finished the regular season with a 19-13 record and was the first team out of the tournament.
He'd be a good hire for Indiana since he's been to the NCAA Tournament multiple times as a head coach. Before coaching West Virginia, he coached Drake for six seasons and took the program to the tournament three times.
He has an overall record of 169-68 in seven seasons as a head coach.
Let's see if Indiana can close the deal on hiring DeVries from WVU.
