Report: UMKC hires Marvin Menzies as next head coach

The University of Missouri-Kansas City (UMKC) men's basketball team has never made an NCAA tournament appearance in their 33-season history. The Roos are reportedly bringing in a new head coach who has been to the "Big Dance" five times out his 12 years as a lead man.

Menzies was at the helm for New Mexico State for nine seasons from 2007 to 2016 and compiled a 198-111 record. During his run with the Aggies, the team won three regular-season WAC titles and five conference championships for five NCAA berths.

Under Menzies, New Mexico State earned a No. 12 seed once, a No. 13 seed three times and a No. 15 seed once, but lost in the first round each year.

The 60-year-old coached for three seasons at UNLV from 2016 to 2019 and went 48-48. In 405 career games, Menzies has a 246-159 record.
