Another member of the Howard family is leaving Michigan.
Jace Howard spent five seasons with the Wolverines. He stayed when the men's basketball program parted ways with his father, head coach Juwan Howard, following the 2023-24 season.
The 6-foot-7 guard has reportedly chosen a new school. According to Adam Zagoria and multiple reports, Jace Howard is transferring to Fordham.
Juwan Howard also moved to New York last year, joining the Brooklyn Nets as an assistant coach.
Jace Howard has played 70 games off Michigan's bench. He averaged a career-high 12.7 minutes in 10 games played during the 2023-24 season, setting a personal benchmark by grabbing seven rebounds in a Big Ten tournament first-round loss to Penn State.
Two years removed from its second straight Sweet 16 appearance, Michigan fired Juwan Howard after an 8-24 season. The Wolverines improved considerably under Dusty May, going 27-10 and returning to the Sweet 16 as a No. 5 seed.
However, Jace Howard got pushed out of the new head coach's rotation. He played just 25 minutes in five games, scoring his only four points in a 112-64 win over Western Kentucky on Dec. 29. That's the last time he saw the court.
Howard confirmed his decision to enter the transfer portal on March 30. The graduate has one year of collegiate eligibility remaining.
"Dear Michigan, these 4+ years have been life changing and I cannot thank you enough," he wrote on Instagram. "From the wins and losses, championships and injuries, this place has become my second home for life. Playing for Michigan, wearing the Block M, and becoming a Michigan Man was truly a dream come true."
Howard joins a Fordham program that went 12-21 after losing nine of last season's final 10 games. The Rams haven't made an NCAA tournament appearance since 1992.
Last week, the NCAA placed Fordham on a three-year probation period and forced the program to vacate 41 wins from the 2021-22 and 2022-23 seasons for providing recruits with impermissible benefits. They gave players tickets to New York Giants, Knicks, and Nets games (before Juwan Howard had any affiliation with the team).
