St. Bonaventure guard Kyle Lofton expected to miss multiple weeks with high-ankle sprain

The St. Bonaventure men's basketball team is off to a 6-1 start this season, but if the team is to continue the hot start, they'll have to do it without second-leading scorer Kyle Lofton for the foreseeable future.

The senior is trailing only fellow senior Jaren Holmes (17.9 points per game) in scoring, while Lofton's assist average is first on the Bonnies. Lofton has started all seven of the team's games thus far and is first on the squad in minutes (39.0) and steals per contest (1.6), while posting a .409/.323/.909 shooting line.

The Hillside, N.J., native has averaged 14.5 points, 5.0 assists, 2.9 rebounds, 1.4 steals and 38.1 minutes per game across 93 career games with the Bonnies, and his career shooting line is .426/.311/.831. As a sophomore, Lofton led the entire A-10 conference in assists per game at 6.0, was third in the conference the following season at 5.5 and finished fourth in free throw percentage in three straight seasons.

In 2019, Lofton was named to the A-10 All-Freshman team, as well as the All-A-10 Tournament first team. He was named first team All-A-10 as a sophomore and junior and was an All-A-10 Tournament first team member in 2021 again.

Heading into his senior year, Lofton earned a spot on the Wooden Award watch list.
