Stetson-Miami basketball game postponed due to COVID-19

The Stetson Hatters confirmed on Wednesday that their season opener against the Miami Hurricanes scheduled for Nov. 25 has been postponed due to a member of the men's basketball team testing positive for COVID-19 and subsequent quarantines.

Stetson personnel will isolate through the afternoon of Nov. 25. Both schools are open to rescheduling the game if they can locate a shared open date on their calendars.

Stetson added that it is unknown if the program's current situation will affect the schedule beyond the Miami contest. The Hatters are set to face FIU on Nov. 27, while Miami is scheduled to play against North Florida on Nov. 29.

According to Jeff Borzello of ESPN, this is the first game of the 2020-21 basketball campaign postponed because of coronavirus-related issues. Borzello also explained that NCAA basketball guidelines suggest 14-day quarantines for Tier 1 individuals associated with a program if any Tier 1 person tests positive for the virus.

The Minnesota men's basketball team is currently quarantining after multiple members of the school's men’s and women’s basketball programs reportedly tested positive.
