TCU, HC Jamie Dixon agree to extension through 2027-28

After a 19-year absence, the TCU men's basketball team returned to the NCAA Tournament during the 2017-2018 season. The Horned Frogs again made it to the "Big Dance" in March 2022 as a No. 9 seed, and when they beat No. 8 Seton Hall in the first round, it was the program's first March Madness victory in 35 years.

Both of those droughts were ended thanks in large part to head coach Jamie Dixon. On Friday, TCU made sure that Dixon would be at the helm for many years to come.

The 56-year-old coach played four seasons for the Horned Frogs from 1983 to 1987. He was selected in the seventh round of the 1987 NBA Draft by Washington but never played in an NBA contest. Dixon's first Division I head-coaching job was with Pittsburgh from 2003 to 2016, where he made 11 NCAA Tournament appearances, including four runs to the Sweet 16 and one run to the Elite Eight.

Dixon was named the Big East Coach of the Year during his first season with the Panthers, won the Naismith Coach of the Year Award in 2008-2009 and finished his career with the program with a 328-123 record. In six seasons with TCU, Dixon has garnered a mark of 117-84.
