The transfer portal buzz for Michigan basketball is starting to pick up. A new crystal ball dropped on Sunday for Vlad Goldin and he could be the first roster domino to fall.

However, the Wolverines and new head coach Dusty May have a ton of options. I’ve lost track of the number of transfers Michigan basketball has reached out to. There are even more options because two of the guys who have entered the portal from Michigan, could return, including Terrance Williams II.

T-Will says a return to Michigan is possible

Williams II has played four seasons with the Wolverines. He was ranked just outside the top 100 as a recruit and has been a solid part of the rotation each season. Williams was a full-time starter the past two seasons and despite Michigan’s struggles in 2023-24, he had a great season.

The 6-foot-7 forward shot 39 percent from beyond the arc on 4.2 3-point attempts per game. Williams averaged 12.4 points and 4.3 rebounds. He also shot 43 percent from the field and 76 percent from the free-throw line.

When Williams declared for the NBA draft and entered the transfer portal, we didn’t know if he was interested in returning. Now we do.

Michigan basketball is among the programs in contact with Williams, according to 24/7 High School Hoops. The account posted on X that Butler, Vanderbilt, Pitt, St. John’s, Louisville, USC, UCLA, VCU, Notre Dame, UCF, and Xavier have reached out.

Williams said a return to Michigan is “very much a possibility.” That’s music to my ears. I’ve been saying Williams could be a great piece for an NCAA tournament team. He’s a glue guy who shot nearly 40 percent from 3-point range. In Dusty May’s four-guard offense, he could be a great fit. He knows the Big Ten, has proven he can produce in that league, and would be a wise addition if he wants to return.
