Greek wing Neoklis Avdalas officially withdrew from the 2025 NBA draft and committed to Virginia Tech, giving the Hokies one of the best international prospects available on the market.
The deadline to withdraw from the NBA draft for current college players was back on May 28, but for international players it was June 15. Avdalas waited until the final day to make it official, although it had been widely speculated he was going to come stateside with Virginia Tech the frontrunner to land his services.
Gonzaga was one of many schools that checked in on Avdalas, doing so prior to the team landing wing Tyon Grant-Foster from Grand Canyon out of the transfer portal.

Avdalas was ranked the No. 2 international newcomer in the 2025 class at 247Sports, slotting in just behind Duke wing Dame Sarr.
Avdalas averaged 8.1 points and 2.5 rebounds in the Greek pro league this past season, and many thought he'd be selected in the second round of the draft thanks to his 6'8 frame, fluidity, guard skills, and three-level scoring.
Instead he lands at Virginia Tech, a massive recruiting win for coach Mike Young with the Hokies coming off a 13-19 overall season, which included going 8-12 in the ACC and missing the NCAA Tournament for a third year in a row.
Gonzaga is regularly involved with the top international prospects, and made a late pursuit of Avdalas before ultimately landing Grant-Foster to fill a role on the wing instead. The Zags could still end up with one of the top international prospects, however, with reports indicating Spanish guard Mario Saint-Supery will join the team this year.
