Gonzaga has made a significant addition to the transfer portal with the commitment of Tyon Grant-Foster, a 6-foot-7 wing who previously starred at Grand Canyon. Known for his athleticism, scoring ability, and defensive versatility, Grant-Foster fills a significant need for the Bulldogs heading into the 2025-26 season.
Grant-Foster’s basketball journey is as compelling as his on-court talent. After starting at Indian Hills Community College, he transferred to Kansas, then DePaul, before a life-threatening heart condition nearly ended his career. After two years from the game, he returned to the court with Grand Canyon, where he delivered an inspiring comeback season. 2023–24, he averaged over 20 points and six rebounds per game, earning Western Athletic Conference Player of the Year honors and proving he was back in elite form.

Even with an ankle injury limiting him for part of the following year, Grant-Foster still posted substantial numbers—14.8 points, 5.9 rebounds, and consistent impact on both ends of the court. His two-way play, athleticism, and maturity make him an ideal fit for a Gonzaga team looking to reload after losing key perimeter players like Ryan Nembhard, Nolan Hickman, and Khalif Battle.
This commitment reflects Gonzaga’s intent to compete nationally by blending experience and explosiveness on the wing. Grant-Foster’s ability to slash to the rim, defend multiple positions, and rebound effectively gives Mark Few’s team a versatile weapon on the perimeter. He also brings veteran leadership and an edge forged through adversity.
The only question mark is whether the NCAA will grant Grant-Foster an eligibility waiver for his seventh year of college basketball. Should that happen, he could have a massive impact in Spokane and help lead the Zags back to national contention.
More than just a roster addition, Grant-Foster represents a comeback story that aligns with Gonzaga’s tradition of development and resilience. If cleared to play, he won’t just be another transfer—he could be one of the most essential pieces in Gonzaga’s pursuit of a deep NCAA Tournament run.
