UCLA's Tyger Campbell Named to All-Tournament Team at The PIT

UCLA guard David Singleton was also present at the event, averaging 8.0 points and 4.0 rebounds per game while shooting 30.8% from 3-point range.

The PIT is the oldest amateur basketball tournament in the country, and it is the only pre-NBA Draft showcase restricted exclusively for seniors. The 64 professional hopefuls in attendance were split between eight teams – Campbell suited up for Portsmouth Sports Club and Singleton played for Roger Brown's Restaurant.

Campbell put up 18 points, 10 assists and three rebounds in Portsmouth Sports Club's 12-point loss on the opening day of the tournament. In his second outing, Campbell dropped nine points, seven assists and six rebounds in a winning effort before recording 17 points, four rebounds and three assists in another victory on Saturday.

Singleton, on the other hand, scored eight points with nine rebounds and three steals in his first game. He then added eight points, four rebounds and an assist in his second game, shooting just 2-for-8 from beyond the arc.

The veteran sharpshooter did not take the court in Roger Brown's Restaurant's final game on Saturday.

Both Singleton and Campbell arrived at UCLA in 2018. Campbell tore his ACL before the start of his freshman year, while Singleton broke his foot at the end of it.

Singleton - a career 43.4% 3-point shooter – went on to appear in a program-record 164 games. Campbell has made the All-Pac-12 First Team in each of the past three seasons, and the 5-foot-11 point guard ranks second all-time among Bruins in total assists.

Matt Barnes competed in The PIT back in 2002, and he is the only former Bruin to join an NBA roster after playing in the tournament. Earl Monroe, Dave Cowens, John Stockton, Dennis Rodman, Scottie Pippen, Derek Fisher and Jimmy Butler are among the dozens of NBA stars who got their start in Portsmouth.

Only one PIT alum has been drafted by an NBA team the last four years, but there were 32 taken between 2008 and 2018.

Size and athleticism concerns may prevent Campbell or Singleton from getting drafted this year, but they could also start their careers in the G League or overseas.

Campbell officially declared for the draft last Wednesday. Singleton, meanwhile, had exhausted all of his collegiate eligibility and did not have the option to return to school.
