UConn Huskies Get Highest Grade on Analyst’s Report Card Ahead of Exciting Final Four Battles
Brian Fluharty-USA TODAY Sports

It’s clear to everyone that the UConn Huskies have a great shot at defending their college basketball crown as they comfortably crushed every opponent they faced in the March Madness bracket.

They have been flattening opponents like nobody’s business to the point that head coach Dan Hurley keeps on winding up the media and opposing teams with multiple huge claims.

However, the only way to silence Hurley and his Huskies is to beat them, and nobody in the bracket has done that yet. Until the Alabama Crimson Tide actually turns the narrative on its head in their Final Four clash, fans and analysts will treat the defending NCAA Division I champs as the overwhelming favorites.

Analyst gives UConn Huskies superb grade after impressive Elite Eight performance

CBS Sports’ Kyle Boone didn’t hold back on telling everyone and their grandma who he thinks will win back-to-back NCAA basketball championships for the first time since Florida in 2006-07.

While he gave credit to the rest of the teams left in the competition, he argues that the Huskies are just playing too well at the moment:

Every team to make the Final Four has obviously earned high marks, and deservedly so. But UConn is the only team to get the A+ treatment here. What they did Saturday in dismantling Illinois — spurred by a 30-0 in-game run — was jarring. The Huskies have all the hallmarks of a championship team.

Their Elite Eight triumph over the Fighting Illini shows a good reason why they’re treated as the favorites to win. Donovan Clingan led the offensive charge with 22 points, but he added value with his 10 rebounds, one assist, three steals, and five blocks.

The rest of the Huskies roster also pitched in during the easy win. Cam Spencer casually threw in 12 boards, one steal, and two blocks on top of his 12 points. Hassan Diarra and Samson Johnson also added some much-needed scoring from the bench, scoring 11 and 10 points respectively.

With the way Hurley’s boys are playing, it’s easy to see why he’s supremely confident of his lads.

Alabama also gets high praise from Boone

While it’s clear that the Crimson Tide are huge underdogs against the UConn Huskies, Boone wasn’t shy to give credit where it’s due:

Alabama earned its first-ever Final Four berth by sticking with its identity: launching 36 3-pointers and making 16 of them to bury Clemson in the Elite Eight. The Crimson Tide have shown they can score with any team in the tourney. Can they do it against UConn?

Nate Oats has a lot on his plate coming into this big game. However, he has a superstar player in Mark Sears who is scoring an incredible 21.5 PPG on 51% efficiency. Moreover, Aaron Estrade, Grant Nelson, and Rylan Griffen are putting up performances of their lives against teams that were supposed to take them down.

If there’s anyone who can take down the UConn Huskies, it’s the Crimson Tide. Regardless of what happens, neutral fans will hope to see some high-octane basketball from both sides.
