Dan Hurley and the UConn Huskies are staying busy this offseason, working to bolster their roster ahead of the 2025-26 campaign.

The transfer portal has become a vital tool for programs across the country, allowing teams to bring in talent quickly. Hurley and his staff continue to use it to their advantage.

Their latest addition is a flipped commitment from a former Minnesota recruit who is now headed to Storrs. It's the first roster move since Alex Karaban announced his return for another season in late April.

Travis Branham of 247Sports reported the update, stating that three-star wing Jacob Ross has committed to UConn according to a source at @247Sports. Ross is the younger brother of UConn forward Jayden Ross,

Jacob Ross, a 6-foot-5 forward, is a three-star prospect, who played high school basketball at SoCal Academy in Castaic, California.

The season before, he attended Long Island Lutheran in Brookville, New York. Ross committed to Minnesota in October, signed in November and decommitted in March.

His older brother, Jayden Ross, has spent the past two seasons at UConn. In April, he announced he would return for another year with the Huskies. During the 2024-25 season, Jayden appeared in 33 games, averaging 11.4 minutes and 2.4 points per game.

The Huskies also landed a major piece through the transfer portal in Malachi Smith from Dayton. He’ll join incoming freshman Jacob Furphy and returning veteran Alex Karaban to form a strong foundation as UConn looks to stay competitive in the Big East.

With Jacob Ross joining the program, UConn adds both talent and familiarity to its roster. His connection to Jayden Ross brings a sense of continuity, while his potential adds depth to the Huskies' wing rotation.

As Hurley continues to build around a mix of returning veterans and new additions, UConn remains firmly positioned as a contender heading into the 2025-26 season.
