The Duke Blue Devils appear to be well on their way to a top seed in the NCAA Tournament, but one of the team's stars has a family member who's facing some criticism.

Cooper Flagg's mother Kelly Bowman Flagg called out North Carolina fans after Duke's win in Chapel Hill on Saturday. After Cooper's huge dunk in the blowout win, cameras caught his mother and father celebrating in the crowd, taunting Carolina fans in the process.

"I want to apologize to anyone who was offended by my language that was caught in a celebratory moment. I do realize that it wasn't my best look. However, if you actually know me and are a real friend of mine you weren't shocked," Kelly said on Facebook Sunday.

"It was a very intense situation we were put into and we were taken aback by the crudeness of the UNC fans as we made our way into the arena. They continued to harass us with much worse being spewed in our direction as well as at our 18 year old son and his teammates throughout the entirety of the game."

Flagg said her celebration was an act of defiance against the "classless a-holes" who were in the crowd on Saturday night.

One Carolina legend and national champion is reacting to Flagg's remarks.

"When you put yourself out there like this on social media, you gotta understand what may come back to you," said former UNC point guard Raymond Felton on the "To the Baha" podcast.

"I would tell my mom, my dad, I would tell my wife, anybody who's a family member, once you put something out there like that, you've gotta take (what) comes back to you. By her making that tweet, you're probably gonna get some nasty comments back to you, talking about Carolina fans and how bad we are … let's talk about your (Duke) fans."

Felton said that he heard terrible things from fans while playing on the road against Duke, but that the negativity is often the unfortunate reality of being a top player. He also noted that it is something that Flagg will have to deal with on his own.

"I've played in Cameron (Indoor) Stadium. I've heard some nasty words. I've heard some racial slurs, let's be real. Your son's gonna get that. He's gonna get a lot of nasty words said about him. He's gonna get nasty things said about you to your son. You can't protect him," Felton added.

"This is the world he's in. He's a high-level basketball player that everybody is looking at, all the time. For you to just come out at Carolina fans like that, it ain't gonna end well for you, ma'am."

Duke clinched the ACC regular season title with their 82-69 win over North Carolina on Saturday, and they'll look to win the ACC Tournament this week before heading to the big dance at the end of the month.
