Virginia Tech guard Tyrece Radford suspended indefinitely after arrest

The Virginia Tech Hokies announced on Monday that starting guard Tyrece Radford is indefinitely suspended from all basketball-related activities "for not upholding the high standards Virginia Tech has for its students and athletes."

According to television station WDBJ, Radford was recently arrested and charged with one count of driving while intoxicated (first offense) and one count of concealed weapon carry.

Radford was named ACC Player of the Week on Jan. 18 after he averaged 19.0 points, 8.0 rebounds and 3.5 assists in victories over the Duke Blue Devils and Wake Forest Demon Deacons. Per ESPN stats, Radford is second on the Hokies in scoring (11.1 points per game) and rebounds (6.3), and he's third in assists (2.1).

The Associated Press (h/t ESPN) added that legendary Duke head coach Mike Krzyzewski called Radford "the best player on the court" after the Hokies beat Duke on Jan. 12.

Virginia Tech fell to 11-3 overall and 5-2 in conference play via a 78-60 loss to the Syracuse Orange on Saturday. The Hokies next face the Notre Dame Fighting Irish on Wednesday.
